Voulez-vous Couche avec Moi… Haha!!! Paris for a weekend
This was by far a very painful trip. We were about 4 visiting Spain through a study abroad program at school. We decided to fly to Paris for the weekend since the round trip ticket was less than $200. It was in March 2010 and the temperature in Spain was between 40 to 60 degrees. Some days we did not use our coats. When we arrived in Paris it was late evening. We drove to Boulevard de Clichy, a gentleman in our class had a room booked. When we arrived we could not get an additional room. We walked around the neighborhood looking for other hotels but everyone was at capacity. We decided to sneak in his room for the night. We walked around the rest of the evening social mapping the area. The street was populated with Adult Parlors, bars, and of course Le Moulin Rouge was a few steps away from our hotel. Young men thought we were prostitutes. It was obviously not because of our attire since we were fully clothed due to the cold.
The adventure started in the morning as we were walking from our hotel to La Tour Eiffel, Arc- de-Triomphe, etc… We started walking but at that point the temperature dropped to 0 degrees. I guess that’s what happened when you jump to the occasion without second thought or planning. We had to deal with frostbites and ran into a cab to drive us just a block up the street. The cold obviously did not stop us from our plans. We climb up the very top of the tower despite the pain. I had to go in and out the souvenir shop from taking pictures after a while we called it quits and grabbed lunch in door at a restaurant nearby.
Lesson learned: Oh! Paris is in indeed a lovely city. If you are travelling I say check the temperature of that location. Although I would not change my decision, the excruciating pain I had to endure makes me wonder sometime. Reserve your hotel soon after you book your ticket. It is not fun going around looking for a room in the cold especially if you are alone.
